It is broken, but Stefano has to confirm this issue and fix it.

It does not matter, because it is broken at the moment. Normally you could choose to add new subscribers to a list by force (hidden) or by check, but since version 5.4.4 or so it has gone…

    See here:
    https://www.thenewsletterplugin.com/forums/topic/set-default-list-in-a-new-subscriber

It seems to be a serious bug in the latest versions.

    Hi Stefano,

with version 5.4.4 and 5.4.5 this does not work any longer. It is not possible to assign new subscribers to any list.

Be aware: With the updates 4.9.5 all emails are sent twice!

Thanks, Guido, but I search for a more adjustable functionality. There is no differentiation bitween soft- and hardbounce and no retries etc. The solution within MyMail is great, so I hope it will be integrated in this kind in Newsletter, because it’s elementary.

Hi, I am also searching for a solution. With MyMail plugin this is very easy to manage with a pop3-account, which is polled from MyMail within WordPress. So I hope this is possible with Newsletter, too?

No, the URL in the emails are http, not https. But the plugin redirects them to https.

    Hi Stefano,

yesterday my WordPress updatet to version 4.2.4. Today all links in the newsletter-email redirect to https, which brings all users a certificate warning.

The newsletter-links themself all are http, but the newsletter-plugin redirects them to https. The normal site use does no redirect.

Now I disabled the cron also in this blog and hope, that the problem is solved with my next newsletter. The strange thing is: Another blog with 4.2.4 and the newsletter-plugin does not have this issue. Both blogs use
    define(‘FORCE_SSL_ADMIN’, true);

Is the https-redirect stored in the database or why is there still a http to https redirect even if I disable this ssl-define?

    Thanks.

    Hi Stefano,

thanks. But the “=” is encoded I think, because on mouse-over in Outlook 2010 it is shown as above mentioned. Perhaps Outlook 2007 hat a problem with these encoded special-characters in URLs?

I don’t know, but I use SSL since some weeks without any problems. Could this be an issue with WP 4.2 and newsletter plugin or do you have any other idea? The manual cron works, but it is not a really good solution.

It (manual call of cron with http) does work. But I wonder why this is only an issue in one of several blogs with newsletter plugin?

For your interest: I use a self signed certificate. With the plugin “backup wordpress” I get this message in the plugin settings:

“wp-cron.php is returning a SSL certificate problem: self signed certificate response which could mean cron jobs aren’t getting fired properly. BackUpWordPress relies on wp-cron to run scheduled backups. See the FAQ for more details.”

So could this also affect your use of cron?

But I need to mention that on all of my blogs I use a self signed certificate, but only with this one blog I got the SSL-link-newsletter.

    It’s both with “http://”

All links and image-sources were https in the real newsletter email, in the testmail only the image-source was. Really strange, because I have another 2 blogs which do not have this issue and they are all on the same versions and also have admin-SSL.

Should the test-email have SSL links?

Is SSL the cause because the preview of the newsletter does not work any longer?

Stop, Stefano, it is not a bug in the plugin!

I found the error: It was a mistaken “-” which was not a real “-“, but some strange symbol in the html-footer of my feed by mail-theme. Don’t know how this could be, because I did not change this symbol since last year. The really strange thing was that the “Test” emails always worked fine, except the real delivery.

    Sorry!

I tried several older versions, inclusive 3.6.7, but I always get “Database error.” after hitting “Send now!”.

What’s wrong? The last newsletter with 3.6.7 worked fine, but this week I updatet to 3.7.6 and now it’s damaged. How can I fix this?

    Thanks.

Hm, I think you are right. It’s only important if it generally looks correct. OK, so with -1 it is fine I think.

    Thanks!

Thank you, with -1 it works now correct with the split.

But I don’t understand why you can’t use the real $last_run date also in test-mode. Sure there can come some more new posts after testing, but the customer of course knows, when he publishs new posts, so that is not a real issue.

Or where is the problem to use the real $last_run?

In my case the half/half does not work. Don’t know why. All posts are allways shown as new.

But the real problem is: My customer is very irritated if the preview does not look like the final feed by mail.

So is it possible to use the real $last_run in preview and testmail or is there any issue?

{sex} is not beeing replaced when sending Feed by mail. Or how do you mean to use the field?

Yes, because “Good morning Lissa” would not sound that good 😉

Surely it would be possible to use “Good morning Stefano Lissa”, but I don’t have all first names, so that doesn’t work.

So is there any solution to handle this? Thanks!

Without gender the surname tag is useless. Why is gender not available? Will it be in the future?
