KeymasterHi, probably you updated manually to version 8.9.5 (it has not been released for automatic updates) and were immediately retired and replaced with version 8.9.6.
Please use that version.
Just a question: do you have some automatic update system different from the one of WP?September 29, 2025 at 4:34 pm #348714User
ParticipantHi,
I experienced the same when I triggered the update of the newsletter plugin from the wordpress interface (Time-stamp of the files: 15:18 CET). Changelog shows : 8.9.6.
I could mitigate by downloading the plugin-zip-library and overwriting the folder in the wordpress plugins.
Time-stamp of these files: 15:29 CET.So reading your reply, I probably triggered the update just in the time-frame where the wrong version was on the wordpress-servers.
Kind Regards,
Jeroen Jaspar

ParticipantFWIW, I had this same issue. I use the WP plugin auto-update feature, not manual updates, but got version 8.9.5 (about an hour ago?). I was able to get around the Critical Error by renaming all of the plugin folders for Newsletter except the main one. Thanks for the update; once I upgraded to 8.9.7, I was able to revert the folder names and everything looked normal.

KeymasterUhm, that’s very weird. When we publish, the WP repo has the option to trigger the auto update on sites after 24 hours, option that we normally use. It oculd be it’s not working for every site, I don’t know. Thank you for reporting, it’s important for us to know those mechanics.
