ParticipantI have this appearing when entering the plugin: The WordPress scheduler is not working properly: that affects the newsletter sending and other site tasks.
See possible solutionsI tried to resolve it as instructed as I have an important newsletter that has been sitting all day at 0 sent. Not sure what to do…Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

KeymasterHi, on the Help/Scheduler page you should see the specific error: if the job is just late, you need an external trigger, as explained on this page:
The error message takes a while to disappear but you can see on the Help/Scheduler page the graph reporting a shorter interval between the scheduler activation (it should be less than 300 seconds).
If you have a cache system like CloudFlare wrongly configured (caching the calls to the wp-cron.php calls) you should ask the provider to fix it. If you share your site address I can try to check that problem.
If you have an error “job skipped”, this is a more serious issue and needs to be debugged.

ParticipantHi Stefano, yes as mentioned – I tried fixing it that way and can’t get it to work.
The site is sonoraindoorsoccer.com.Thank you!

KeymasterHi, you have Cloudflare as a cache, but it seems ok. Did you setup the scheduler external trigger using for example cron-jobs.org?
You should see on their console if the calls are going ok or not.
And what about the Help/Scheduler panel? Could you share a screenshot?December 24, 2025 at 6:44 pm #352414User
ParticipantIt’s not skipped – it just shows ‘Sending’ still and it’s been about 24 hours – hasn’t sent 1. The recommended chron external plugin didn’t do anything.

ParticipantNo idea Stefano. Not sure about anything you’re talking about actually.
December 24, 2025 at 6:47 pm #352416User
ParticipantI’d really like to get this newsletter sending if possible asap. All other newsletters have sent perfectly – never an issue – what happened suddenly??
December 24, 2025 at 6:49 pm #352417Stefano
KeymasterHi, the Help/Scheduler panel reports some information about the scheduler.
Do you have some sort of optimisation plugin that is not lading the Newsletter plugin on the frontend? On Help/System we try to detect a few of those plugins.December 24, 2025 at 6:49 pm #352418Stefano
KeymasterIt’s not something about the newsletter, is something about your system… new plugins? New configurations?
December 24, 2025 at 6:49 pm #352419User
ParticipantI have no idea
December 24, 2025 at 6:50 pm #352420User
ParticipantThe newsletter has been working perfectly until now. I haven’t changed anything.
December 24, 2025 at 6:51 pm #352421User
ParticipantHow does normally work – can you/yours diagnose/fix this??
December 24, 2025 at 6:51 pm #352422Stefano
KeymasterCould you check the Help pages? There is the Scheduler specific page and the System page as well.
December 24, 2025 at 7:09 pm #352423User
ParticipantApologies, I did switch hosting a couple weeks ago, though from what I can see, that shouldn’t be an issue? Not sure how to enter new hosting information if it is an issue.
December 24, 2025 at 7:09 pm #352424User
ParticipantI have a license key for the newsletter plugin
December 24, 2025 at 7:10 pm #352425User
ParticipantA test email sent by the plugin did make it to me immediately so that seems to be working. Just not sending the newsletter all the sudden.

ParticipantI’m with Bluehost – any suggestions on what to enter for the SMTP?? I’ve tried entering the info I found for them such as port 587 etc under the SMTP section of the plugin – but it still doesn’t work
December 26, 2025 at 7:47 pm #352446User
ParticipantMy hosting updated the MX / DNS – the newsletter still doesn’t work. They said to contact the plugin support. Any more help I can get here? It still simply won’t send my newsletter.

KeymasterUhm, but are you sure that when you transferred the site, all DNS/Cloudflare configurations have been updated? When I try to subscribe, I get a timeout from cloudflare.
Do you have posts on your site? Where? Which is the last post you made (I want check I see it).December 27, 2025 at 5:48 pm #352466User
ParticipantHi Stefano, no I didn’t do the transfer. How would I go about making all of these necessary DNS/Cloudfare configurations? Please let me know! (I haven’t done any posts – except a new image post in “News”)
Thank you!

Participant(Meaning, my web designer did the migration from another host to the new host/Bluehost.)
December 27, 2025 at 6:24 pm #352468Stefano
KeymasterIf a technician made the transfer, I should assume it has been made correctly.
The last image you publiched is this one? https://sonoraindoorsoccer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Spring-League-Flyer.png
Could you share a screenshot of the list of your newsletters and the content of the page Help/Scheduler?December 27, 2025 at 8:32 pm #352470User
ParticipantYes that’s the last published image.
Here is a screenshot showing the latest still not sending.

Keymasterok, but on top of that page, is there a message reporting the scheduler is not working?
And what about the Tools/Cron events page? (if you installed the wp crontrol plugin)December 28, 2025 at 9:33 pm #352472User
ParticipantYes there is a message saying The WordPress scheduler is not working properly: that affects the newsletter sending and other site tasks. None of that helped. I’m trying to get this fixed with Bluehost but their SMTP instructions didn’t solve it either.
December 28, 2025 at 9:58 pm #352473Stefano
Keymaster1. Please, install the WP Crontrol plugin.
2. Go to Tools/Cron Events
3. Share the screenshot, almost surely you have ALL jobs blockedIf that problem is not solved, ALL background activities of WP won’t work.
Possible solution: ask Bluehost to trigger the execution of wp-cron.php every five minutes. They know how to do that, anyway, here there is a reference from them.
They may refuse to set up that trigger. Let me know.

ParticipantThank you Stefano! Here is the link to the images:
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1Unf2Qc_VQ_i8Cf-WfmRfMs6f2OynXrs5?usp=drive_linkYes, it shows the newsletter is blocked at the top. I was on with customer support at Bluehost for over an hour yesterday trying to configure the SMTP among other things – still can’t get it to to work.
December 29, 2025 at 6:43 pm #352483User
ParticipantHi Stefano, on with customer support at Bluehost right now and they believe the resolved it, though the newsletter is sending 1 email/newsletter it seems every 5-10 minutes or so. I asked them why it’s so slow, but could it be a setting in the plugin at this point? I have 160 to send and in the last 15mins it’s sent 3… Thank you!
December 29, 2025 at 6:45 pm #352484User
ParticipantI raised it in the plugin to the 160 max emails per hour to test it – is that ok?
December 29, 2025 at 7:10 pm #352485Stefano
KeymasterThe scheduler is working, but since you have that message on our admin pages, probably it is not running constantly.
1. The newsletters in sending status have they registered any progress now?
2. On our Help/Scheduler panel, which is the exact message about the scheduler you can see on the top-right box?December 29, 2025 at 7:12 pm #352487Stefano
KeymasterYou can set the speed you want, but it should be compatible with the max emails per hour allowed by bluehost.

ParticipantHello, I am having the same issue and am with Bluehost as well (have been for 2 years). Do you know what they did to resolve your issue?
January 20, 2026 at 6:48 pm #353076User
ParticipantHere is a screenshot of the cron jobs.

ParticipantHello Michael,
Because of referencing this post, after 45 days of working with Bluehost on this issue they finally looked at their end and quit blaming the plugin. The issue was resolved by disabling the Cloudflare CDN as it was blocking the cron job from processing correctly. Thank you for this forum and for your support!January 28, 2026 at 8:44 am #353289Michael
KeymasterHello,
glad to hear that : )
Let us know if you need anything else,
Michael
