ParticipantHello The Newsletter Plugin Support Team,
I have been troubleshooting a persistent issue with images in my newsletters for several days and would appreciate your help identifying the root cause.
Problem
Images in newsletters created with The Newsletter Plugin are not displayed in Gmail, both in Gmail Web and the Gmail Android app. Instead, Gmail displays broken image icons and the image alt text.
The same emails display correctly in Thunderbird.
Important finding
The diagnostic test email sent through The Newsletter Plugin displays its images correctly in Gmail. However, images in newsletters I create myself do not display, even when I create a completely new newsletter.
This suggests that the issue may be related to the HTML or image URL generation used in my newsletters, rather than a general SMTP delivery problem.
Environment and troubleshooting completed
Website: https://www.calpino.com/
WordPress newsletter plugin: The Newsletter Plugin
Email delivery: SMTP2GO via SMTP
Web hosting: Bitpalast
Wordfence was temporarily disabled for testing, with no change in behavior.
SMTP2GO Open Tracking and Click Tracking are both disabled.
The image URLs are directly accessible in a browser and return HTTP 200 without redirects.
I tested both JPG images and new image filenames; the issue persisted.
SPF, DKIM and DMARC authentication pass successfully.
Bitpalast checked the server configuration and reported no server-side errors or blocks.
In Gmail’s original message source, the image URLs are rewritten through Google’s image proxy (googleusercontent.com/meips/…). The original image URL points to my website.
My request
Since the plugin’s diagnostic email displays images correctly but my own newsletters do not, could you please advise how to identify the relevant difference?
In particular:
Does the diagnostic email use a different method for embedding images than newsletters created in the editor?
Are there known issues with image URL generation, HTML sanitization, image handling or newsletter rendering that could cause this behavior in Gmail?
Which specific logs, settings or diagnostic files would help you identify the cause?
I have already repeated the usual troubleshooting steps and would prefer to focus on the difference between the working diagnostic email and the newsletters created in the editor.
Thank you for your help.

KeymasterHi, please, send a test newsletter to test@thenewsletterplugin.com so we can check the content source. Since the test email sent to gmail from Help/Sending displayes both the images (is it correct?), the problem is in the media when added into the newsletter.
Could be settings of the WP_CONTENT_URL in your wp-config.php but that problem should be reported on Help/System (as a warning). -
