I’ve been using the Newsletter for a number of years now, with only a few problems.

However – I’ve only just realised that by using PHP Mail, none of the emails get delivered to Gmail accounts. It appears Google expects some additional headers etc.

Can the PHP Mailer be modified to send these headers?

To get around this problem, I tried the default Newsletter SMTP plugin, but that just locks the site up. I then tried a few of the free/paid modules, but most of them (if not all) required modifications to DNS settings – something I don’t always have direct control of.

Seeing as I’ve already paid for the PRO version of the plugin, I find it hard to accept that I have to incur additional costs to use an external service. I have a list of around 3,000 subscribers – well above the usual free limitation.

So .. put simply … does the Newsletter SMTP module work … or not?

I persuaded my client to move from Mailchimp to the Newsletter. Now it appears I might have to revert <?>.

    Hello Adam,

first of all, Newsletter doesn’t provide sending services, it’s just a tool. Sending engine must rely on your own server sending capabilities (with its own limits) or external services, free or paid. We highly suggest to use a dedicated Smtp plugin like Wp Mail Smtp or one of our addons if you bought / subscribed to one of the services we directly integrate with.

    Michael
