As a new user I have no clue or experience with the newsletter way of working:
1) starts from the older posts: What does it mean? I have it differently. On my admin area I have it only showing the latests post at Max posts to extract=1. https://screencast.com/t/2meQlv5i (And the only way to get the post “pushed” to “New posts from last sending” is to change the post’s posting date.
2) The starting date can even be set on the channel moving it back and forward. Unfortunately this comment is not clear. Where is starting date set on the channel for the Auto newsletter? Please share the steps on how to do this as I am not seeing it.
