Test E-Mails were not send /blank page appears

Hi,
like I wrote in the titel of that topic this is the problem I have. When I send a test E-mail to view my newsletter a blank page appears and no e-mail is send. What can be the issue?
Maybe a new theme or the update to wordpress to 3.8 that i´ve done? Or the update of the plugin?

Hi, actually I don’t know why. Some time it happened on other blog due to security plugin/web server modules. If you try to send a test email from diagnostic panel, do you have the same problem?

Hi, thanx for your answer and sorry for my late reply. The problem is solved. There was a php warning “base64_encode() has been disabled for security reasons”
But my host activate the function. Now everything works fine.

But now I got an issue about writing the letters ä ö ü in the newsletter. It produce cryptic words. Is this a known issue? Is there a way to fix it?

Where did you have those strange characters? All code is UTF-8 so it should be able to manage every character. On main WordPress configuration, which charset is configured?

Those character come from the theme? Did you create a custom theme?
