    Hello,

When opening the statistics page after I’ve send a newsletter it shows the number of emails sent (correctly) but all other numbers remain 0.

Hi, are you using the reports module or the basic statistics? Send a mail to yourself with a link inside (create a newsletter and send only a test). The click the link into the email you receive and see if it is correctly redirect to the original page.

    Stefano.

Hello, I have the same issue. I send 2 newsletters but there are no stats on the emails opened. I use the basic report.

I did what you ask and the link redirect correctly on the original page.

    Thank you for your help

Hi this is very strange. Can you send me a copy of your email where there is the tracking link?

    Stefano.

After further investigation, I didn’t set to “yes” the “Track message links?” option in the “who will recieve it” panel. I think the label “Track message links?” is a little incomplete, in my opinion it would be better to change it to “Activate statistics module” or something like that because I first thought this option will only track the links inside my email and not the openning of the email as well.

Thank you for your help !

You’re right, the label is misleading.

Yes, you need to track the link to track even the opening.

    Hi Stefano,

Experienced the same now, so agree, very confusing. Would like to suggest to

    – Use the actual Settings page of the extension and have it resemble the “Who will receive it” tab for the extension where you have a generic set of functions allowing you to select Tracking on/off, tracking details including Sex, Status, Country, and more etc. This would apply for all new created Newsletters.

    – Keep the individual newsletter tracking options under “Who will receive it”, that overrides the generic setting above, if changed. Any changes to this would apply regardless the Generic Settings page.

OR, if you want to keep the current individual newsletter setup,

    – On the Newsletter List page, extend the number of columns to reflect more details about the newsletter including Tracking (Yes/No) (first check if Report plugin is installed and based on that extend the column view)

    Thanks

Hi, I think the whole tracking system has been misunderstand.

First, enable tracking on a newsletter means to indicate to Newsletter to rewrite the link and insert special content (an image) on sent message to *try* to discover who open or click on a link.

Se, preference and other setting has nothing to do with tracking: that setting are used to select a subset of subscribers, for example only women or only men. Of course this work only if your database has subscriber profiles with those values (for example if you activated the gender selection on your subscription form).

Who will receive it is not who received it: it’s a set of options to determine the set of subscribers to target.

More, tracking is embedded in newsletter by default, there is not extensions which change the way the tracking works. The report extension only get the data a show it in a readable way.

    Hm, now I am confused.

I’ve sent out a newsletter without setting “Track clicks and opening?” to Yes and my stats are showing all zeros for Reads, Clicks etc even tough all Subscribers have been emailed (confirmed by the plugin – Total Emails Sent) and many already opened and clicked on links.

I’ve created a new newsletter and changed the “Track clicks and opening” to Yes and tested opening and clicking the emails as a subscriber. Now the Statistics reflects all the data.

Before installing the extension, the basic stats was working fine showing amount of opened emails.

    Reports extension 1.0.5
    Newsletter 3.2.9
    WP 3.4.2

    Thanks

    Hi Stefano,
I guess the last update brought some unwanted changes. The statistics (Total Send / Email Open) always worked like a charm, but not for my very last newsletter – although I simply copied (!) the one from before, made some changes and resent it again. This time: No statistic data – obviously because (strangly) now the “Track message links” wasn’t set to “Yes” anymore.
    A bug or my fault?

    Best wishes, Martin

Uhm, I think the copy has a bug and does not copy the “tracking” option. I’ll check it.

I confirm, the newsletter copy function was not complete. It was missing to copy the “tracking” value and even the “visual editor” value. Now it’s fixed.

    Hi Stefano,

I think I have another bug: the link tracking is only picking up the first link. The other links in my email do not show tracking code and do not get tracked if clicked.

Are you able to confirm if this is a bug or something I’m doing wrong?

    Cheers

    Cam

This is strange, every link in your email should be rewritten (you can see it looking at the links’ format) and the tracking should store every click.

What did you see in your reports?

The reports worked for the link that was tracked but not the others.

Here’s the HTML of the email once sent:

    Hi there,

I am using this thread rather than opening a new one.

With me the Statistics are even more confusing, as it says that – although I sent a Newsletter to 1 address – 0 are sent, however 1 was opened. How that?

    Cheers
    Christian

P.S. Using newest version of component and WP.

Did you aborted the newsletter, or it is in “sent” status?

Uhm, and the “sent” status is reporting (1/1) or other numbers?

In the Statistics overview it says “sent” next to that specific Newsletter. In the detaled Statistics for that Newsletter it says

    Field Value
    Total sent 0
    Email open 1

Very strange to have a total sent of zero. I don’t know while it’s happening, are the email actually really sent?

Yes. I sent the email to myself and it seemed ok. I will send newsletter again this week. Maybe I can check what’s happening during the process. Will let you know then.

Hi, I’ve just set up this plugin and I’ve realized that it is not tracking the openings and clicks. What should I do? Thanks in advance.
