    Hello,

thanks for this great plugin, which seems very useful! Could you please tell me the maximum input length that a user who is subscribing can enter in a form field of type “text”?
It seems pretty short – can I tweak this somewhere and allow for longer texts?

    Cheers and thanks in advance!

That field is store as text into the database, it can very big. The field appearance is a different thing, it’s only a matter of style in your blog.

I get a “database error” when I enter anything beyond 20 words (approximately) in there. You are welcome to try and test it at: http://freundeskreis-rutesheim.de/newsletter
Check the last Field (YOUR TEXT). If you enter anything long in there, you get a database error.
(use this to generate a text with a few words, if you want: http://www.loremipsum.de/

    Is it a server-side setting?

Cheers and thanks for your answer!

Dear Stefano, sorry to bug you, but I am stumped. The maximum number of characters that a subscriber can enter into a text field is somewhere between 250 – 300 chars. If it gets longer I get a database error. What could cause this? A setting from my host? Are you sure you have no limiter in your text fields?

Thanks in advance for your consideration and regards,

    Janislav

You’re right. Finally we did not converted those fields to text fields for performances. But you can: you should change the “profile_n” fields in the wp_newsletter table to a greater length or change them to text type fields.

We’ll take care of that on future versions. Please, after that change, deactivate and reactivate the plugin and check that your changes have not be overridden by the activation process.

    Stefano.
