Change the gender of subscribers

Hi
Is there any way to bulk edit the sex of the subscribers. My mailing list has both male and female subscribers and by using the {title} tag it can differentiate between Mr and Mrs. I have tried to import Email; Name, Surname, Sex; Status, using f for female and m for male via csv, but it will not recocnise the gender

Any assistance will be appreciated
