ParticipantI enabled the “Automatically subscribe WordPress users” option in the admin panel and when new WP users are added (they sign-up for bbpress but are put in the WP database and log-in asWP users) I do not see their email address added to the list of subscribers.
Should I be doing something else to make this happen or is there some other option I should be ticking to activate this?
Thanks,
L

ParticipantP.S. I read the documentation and did not see anything addressing how this option works or should be configured.

KeymasterBut did you set that options at which value? Forced subscription?
Stefano.

ParticipantI set it to “Yes, force subscription” here is a screen shot of my setting:

I’m wondering if I don’t understand how this is supposed to work?
The name of this feature suggests to me that anyone that registers on WP would be added to the newsletter. But, in the meantime, I’ve been googling this and saw a discussion in another forum and I’m thinking this option only adds a pre-checked checkbox during registration?
Then, if this is the case would I not see it here?

Thanks,

P.S. I want to customize the log-in but saw hundreds of plug-ins if you can recommend one that works well with your newsletter check-box I would appreciate it!

KeymasterThe feature has three options: force the subscription, show it as an option and show it as an option already checked.
Probably the “forced” mode is not working as supposed, I’m checking the code right now.
Stefano.

KeymasterFound, there is bug! Grrrr!
By now, choose the option to show the newsletter subscription check box already checked (actually this should be right way to offer a subscription).
ASAP I’ll release a patch.
Stefano.

KeymasterI missed to answer the second question. The newsletter check box is added using the standard way WordPress makes available, so every plugin preserving that behavious should work with newsletter.
Eventually let me know.
Stefano.

ParticipantOk, thank you. Will wait for the patch and set the check-box for now.

ParticipantIn the meantime, I discovered a magic little button called “Align WP Users” that moved all of my testers that subscribed to the forums to the newsletter. Can I push it whenever I want?!?
It would be a good idea to recommend “good practices” to whomever chooses “force subscription”. I just removed the a check-box (waiting for the fix and now it’s ok that I have the magic button) but when people register I note that they will also be receiving the newsletter – it should be a BENEFIT not a BOTHER!!
Once you’ve registered you’ll immediately be able to:
– post comments on articles
– participate in the forums
– receive our newsletter (sent about once a week or so)Simply fill in the information below and hit “register” to get started.

ParticipantGrazie Stefano!
Since the last update (3.2.6) this is working now. Every time I get an email alert for a new WordPress User, I also get a newsletter alert of a new subscriber.
Ciao,
L
